USPS Mailbox Fishing Attempt

On Friday, June 2, 2023, at approximately 12:30am, BST
officers observed two males on Queens Blvd and 61st Street
unlawfully using a black leather belt, with an attached “sticky”
substance, placing the device into the USPS mail collection box.

These perpetrators were attempting to remove deposited mail.

This practice seeks to extract checks, credit card payments and
personal information deposited within street level mail
receptacles owned by the United States Postal Service.

When the perpetrators observed our officers, they immediately
fled on foot across Queens Blvd.

Please be cognizant of persons congregating within the general
area of USPS mailboxes.
