Re: 7/15/2024 Power Outage Update
On Monday July 15th, Big Six Towers experienced a power outage at 10:08pm. The power was restored within 30 minutes. The cause of the outage was due to gas engine #3 failing. The remaining engines running did not provide enough power to supplement the temporary rental generators that are on site. Back up generators need a sufficient amount of load in order to run. Luckily, we had engine #5 that continued to run which gave enough power to keep the shopping center and power plant power on (it’s much easier to restore power when the power plant has not lost its power). Please keep in mind that the temporary rental generators did not cause this outage.
We are working diligently on troubleshooting the problem with engine #3. In the meantime, please conserve energy as much as possible especially during this heatwave. If you have lights on your terrace constantly on, please turn them off as this can help with the demand in the power plant.
As always, we would like to remind everyone of the necessity of checking your medical back up equipment, if this pertains to you. Please make sure that your equipment is properly working and charged on a periodic basis. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
